About M. Ray Davis

M. Ray Davis grew up on the South Side of Chicago in the 1970s, spending his early years in the working-class neighborhood of Pilsen before moving with his family to Brighton Park, where he attended Thomas Kelly High School.

He went on to spend many years as a Private Security Officer in and around Chicago, a career that gave him a unique perspective on resilience, vigilance, and human nature. His professional background, combined with his lifelong passion for readiness, naturally led him to become a dedicated disaster preparedness enthusiast. M. Ray Davis has since published three nonfiction books on preparedness, sharing both practical knowledge and lived experience to help others plan for uncertain times.

Nearly twenty years ago, he moved to Iowa, where he enjoys a quieter pace of life with his loving wife and their three cats. When he isn’t writing or preparing, he can often be found reading, tinkering with radio gear, or exploring new ways to equip people for life’s challenges.
